CHAIRMAN'S CHATTER
Chairman's Chatter is compiled quarterly, in February, May, August and November by our Chairman John Shaw. John summarizes the latest developments in the club covering general news, exhibition reports, developments in the clubs three layouts, and any other notices. May 2011

As the last of Abbotstone's outings bites the dust, I am looking forward to a period of running within the clubroom over the coming months.
If the 00 meeting goes as planned there will be much activity from that quarter as well.
Thanks to those who helped at Burgess Hill.

OO Gauge Matters

The meeting to discuss the new exhibition 00 layout will be held on 25th May at 8.00pm.

I have asked for a simple presentation giving size, general arrangements, track standards and where in the clubroom this layout will either be built and/or displayed. A budget for the expenditure expected to October this year and an overall cost for future budget planning is also required.

Nitty-gritty details of the track plan, period modelled etc. can be discussed if there is time but these details are for the 00 modellers to decide amongst themselves. A decision may be made at the meeting or put to all members depending on the outcome and who is present.

EM gauge Matters

Progress continues with the scenics on this layout.

O gauge Matters

Following our exhibitions, some remedial work will be put in place. Serious consideration is also being given to renewing the main 'enigma' so that the layout will last the time we expect it to. We are experiencing wire breakages at the plugs and these are to be upgraded to a thicker more robust 18 core wire, two of which will be used on new 36-way plugs.
New ideas to simplify the enigma but still give the excellent running potential we have, will be employed. There will be less relays and the box itself will be larger to allow easier access and maintenance. The need to fit it into the van will be one criterion.

Other Business

The Summer Party will be held at David Deere-Jones home again this year. A date of 9th July has been set and we hope to see you all there.
