Chairman’s Chatter

A Happy New Modelling Year to you all.

It was good to see some running on Redbridge and hopefully in the future, other members not so familiar with DCC can be seen operating to familiarise themselves with the cabs etc.

00 Gauge Matters

Publicity

The Chairman has spoken to the exhibition Manager of Fareham & District MRC RailEx show for October 2018 and it is looking good for Redbridge to appear there

Work in Progress

The following work is in progress (in no particular order)

  • Trackwork - some changes in the yard, particularly:
    •  removal of "the hump"
    •  modifications to the wharf lines
    •  rewired trackwork leading to the engine shed.
  • Ballasting - improvements to ballasting in the yard trackwork and behind the down platform.
  • Uncoupling wagons in the yard - adjustments to the magnets that release the Spratt & Winkle couplings.
  • Water Level - the “mean water level” has been agreed and work on  associated embankments and tidal marshland underway.
  • The Log Pond - the log pondbundaries have been set, and the bank type decided.
  • Main lines - scenic work added behind the main running lines.
  • Control System - wiring and power supplies are being completed.
  • Buildings - the machinery in the creosote plant is completed, the timber drying shed location has been fixed but construction not started.
Still plenty to get stuck in to before October!

Running Evening

Members have spent some time “driving” trains on the mainlines and yard tracks.

.
EM gauge matters

Testing continues of all the rolling stock on Mawgan Porth.

The steam rail-motor has received a few minor repairs and is now running

0 Gauge matters

We are now in a period of running sessions. DCC will be used from time to time, 7mm members being advised in advance of those days.

Other Business.

I hope to see as many as possible at the dinner, plus of course your other halves
