Patrick Lane
Presented by Bruce Armstrong

Patrick Lane is a 7mm:1ft O gauge exhibition layout set in the 1980s and based in the Southern Region

Drawing inspiration from Marchwood, Southampton, the fictitious layout comprises a single platform and run-round loop, with a number of rail-head served facilities including a fuel oil depot, MoD stores building, and a nuclear flask crane siding.

An hourly passenger service runs from Southampton, either loco hauled or provided by a local DEMU.

Patrick Lane was originally built by Neil Mason of the Little Layout Company, as a small three board layout based around the nuclear flask siding. Bruce acquired the layout in 2023, and set in motion an ambitious expansion programme, doubling the layout in size to 6 scenic boards, plus a 7- road traverser. Design work was completed in 2024 and the layout returned to Neil for the extension to be built later that year.

Patrick Lane planf

Patrick Lane requires three operators, one to control the sidings, one for the station area, and one for the fiddle yard.
Loco control is via a Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance DCC system. Signals are all working, being provided by Dapol and the main gantry (based on Marchwood) was kindly built by Jon Fitness.
Points & signals are operated by Layout Concepts DCD-AEC Cobalt Alpha Central Integrated 12-way Digital Switch panel.
