Oct2015

October sees the Annual General Meeting take place. I hope as many members as possible will be at the meeting.

OO Gauge Matters

Work has progressed on the items that were described in the last Chairman’s Chatter.

Baseboard Protection

The manufacture and fitting of each pair of end-boards has been completed.

Fiddle Yard Trackwork Identification

A gantry has been constructed that clearly identifies the “track number” of each of the many tracks.

Wiring

Testing of the wiring on all boards has been complied with. Appropriate wires to the tracks and pointwork are complete. The wires are neatly laid and glued to the board and termination to the associated tag strips is nearly complete.

The wiring of switching relays to appropriate frogs is complete.

Control System & Boxes

The control system design was finalised and the master control box constructed.

The wiring from the baseboards (sections and point servos) is part of the overall control system with relevant DC and DCC sections being switchable.

Buildings and Scenics

Work has continued within the sleeper works area with painting of rails and ballasting.

The Gantry signal on the causeway has been completed.

Consideration continues over the locations and sizes of the many buildings that are part of the works. This aspect needs to be finalised as soon as possible so that construction can commence

EM gauge Matters

Minor repairs  have been made to the track to enable more practice with running operations

O gauge Matters

The last of the MPD pointwork is under way. A three way point which is the entry point from the West end of the MPD. Ballasting is taking place as track is laid. The turntable is now in place.

Other Business

The Exhibition Season is upon us again. I do hope that members will volunteer to assist at these shows as getting our club name around the area is our main method of getting new members.
