Chairman’s Chatter

Congratulations to the whole Redbridge team for the Fareham Exhibition success. It was a success despite a few niggles, believe me these always occur especially after major movement down to the van and into a hall. Well done to you all and so nearly “best layout in show”.

00 Gauge Matters

A tremendous effort to complete work in all areas of Redbridge Wharf cumulated in a very successful show at Fareham, where we missed out on best in show by the smallest of margins to Copenhagen Fields. We should all be very pleased with our efforts to be compared to that renown layout.

In the past quarter we have:

  • Completed the lighting gantry and facia
  • Created a backscene, which included modifications to the old bridge
  • Revised the operating sequence
  • Completed new scenic works including:
    • Crane gantry
    • Transformer building
    • New reclaim yard
    • Fencing
    • Station lamps
  • Developed an effective Train Management System for operators

We have a few snags and lessons from Fareham to address which will keep us busy as the nights draw in, but let us enjoy the fruits of our labours, and have fun on running nights.

Thank you to all for the hours invested making Fareham a success

EM gauge matters

Mawgan Porth was exhibited at Horsham in April this year. This led to a "thoughts list" being produced by two club members, of modifications or improvements that would enhance operation and scenics. A few of these have been carried out. Once access to the layout increases more can be done.

0 Gauge matters

The branch fiddle yard controller box has been re-built and is now working. Work will soon start to put back baseboard 8 and clean and dust the layout so that normal running can resume

Other Business.

Please note the date of the dinner as I shall be sending out menus etc soon.

The usual list of our Exhibition commitments is also attached with some new additions. Please note the dates in your diaries and think about your personal commitment to the layout outing
