 Chairman’s Chatter

Normal service is resumed!

It was good to see some new members join us and getting involved. As a club we have a host of diverse interests, and each layout has its own special curiosities and operating methods which may well be very different to that the new members have come across before. Training and patience will be required, but I am confident we shall have useful additions to our membership.

00 Gauge Matters

As we get back into the swing of club nights it's good to welcome some new 00 members to the Redbridge team. Running nights have recommenced to refresh and train members in preparation for Ally Pally in March. A revised 'club sequence' has been used involving less trains but still maintaining the entertainment and head scratching the exhibition sequence provides.

The revised crossovers in the yard have been ballasted and tested, and several scenic repairs made to the layout.

After some interrogation the control system appears to be becoming more stable, but there is still an underlying problem to diagnose.

Work to reconfigure the sidings on club board 'D0' continues, this will allow us to shunt the yard under exhibition circumstances, but without the bigger exhibition standard board 'B0' in place, which takes up too much room in the club room.

A more detailed report will be given at the AGM.

 EM gauge matters

No report currently. Full discussion is anticipated at the AGM.

 0 Gauge matters

Running in DC has been achieved on Abbotstone and we have just added the missing scenic town area and populated the platforms etc.

Testing in DCC at Abbotstone is complete and base board 8 removed to allow work to continue at Canal Junction MPD. The AGM will provide a more detailed plan for the next 12 months.

Other Business.

Please note the AGM date and time on 13th October.

This will be a useful meeting to plan for the next 12 months in all areas of the club, layouts, exhibition commitments, premises, general health and safety. You should all have a copy of the agenda and will have notes a few changes to previous ones.

Saturday 26th February 2022 Club Dinner at The Potters Heron Hotel

Details of the club dinner will be sent out later in the year. Please note the date in your diaries. Other halves, spouses, wives, partners are all welcome and a chance for us to get together and enjoy an evening together.
