CHAIRMAN'S CHATTER
Chairman's Chatter is compiled quarterly, in February, May, August and November by our Chairman John Shaw. February '10

Hopefully most of you will have received this newsletter as an email and if you wish you have been able to print it successfully. Thanks to all who helped with the visit to Bristol. Those who volunteered to help on the Friday setting up at least had a comfortable hotel to stay in with a good meal on the Friday.

Please note the new event at Otterbourne in July shown overleaf. With 2 club layouts in attendance, there will be plenty of operation opportunities for all.

OO gauge Matters

There is nothing to report this time. The weather has played its part keeping the room less attractive to members. Hopefully the long overdue re-wire will be planned and commence once the warmer seasons arrive.

EM gauge Matters

Ballasting is now complete, platform construction is under way and scenics are being planned. With Peter B out of action, (now getting better) and Peter C in foreign parts, 50% of the team are unable to assist but Mick and Richard are proceeding slowly.

O gauge Matters

Following the layout's visit to Bristol, some tidying up of the wiring under the boards will be carried out. The new point work for the fiddle yard is being built in the clubroom as a demonstration of this 'black art'. The objective now is to complete the changes to the fiddle yard and test thoroughly using stock we intend to take to the NEC in November.

Keith is going to arrange completion of the 'town scene' so part of the layout will need to be moved for this important improvement. This will include better arrangements for the girder bridge and entrance to the MPD.

Other Business

Are there any volunteers to host the Summer Party please? This has always been a successful event and we need to arrange a date and venue as soon as possible.
