CHAIRMAN'S CHATTER
Chairman's Chatter is compiled quarterly, in February, May, August and November by our Chairman John Shaw. Aug 2012

Exhibition time again and lots for us to help at. Please support the layout owners even for half a day if you cannot do more.

OO Gauge Matters

Almost all of the points for the yard have been made and laid by nearly everybody with very acceptable results. Redbridge junction including the switched diamond has been built and motors installed. This will allow the commencement of the board with the causeway itself where the standard of track-work is most likely to come under public scrutiny – this is why we have been ‘practising’ on the stuff at the back to raise our game a bit.

Additional useful photos of the yard and buildings have been uncovered including one from a recent edition of the Hornby magazine. They all will contribute to the overall accuracy of the layout and to counter any criticism of lack of proto-typicality.
Building proposals are advancing – restricted by the amount of space in our version of the yard but some ‘mock-ups’ have been constructed to test theories and a slight re-arrangement of track alignment has been agreed to accommodate the presentation of ‘process’ for the sleepers and allow the overhead gantry to appear functional while remaining relatively short and not crowding the yard and buildings too much.
Some thought is being given to the representation of CWR passing across and leaving the yard while leaving the process off-scene.
Arrangements for the Foundry and its accompanying reclamation yard are likely to be tackled soon.
Further purchases of baseboard materials and point motors are imminent and thought will need to be given to improving working conditions and safe storage of baseboards.

EM gauge Matters

Mick is making progress with the buildings at the end of the layout, while Peter C is building walls.
Peter B has at last persuaded the Adams Radial tank to run properly.

O gauge Matters

Well we hope it’s all OK! Much overtime and hard work by several members have been applied.

Other Business

We need a venue for the Christmas Party please. The suggested date is 19th December  but can be changed if the host wishes to arrange a more convenient date.

The A.G.M. is on October 10th. Please support the club by being there.
